This year’s “Innovate, Integrate, Communicate” themed PRINT 13 offered an exciting show-going experience for a diverse spectrum of attendees – here are some of the key trends:
JETvarnish 3D Twin with iFOIL:
At PRINT 13, MGI (Booth 3213) presented two upgrades to the JETvarnish 3D: a Twin option which doubles the coating speed or coating thickness in a single pass plus a new inline foil module (iFoil). With the introduction of the JETvarnish 3D Twin, 3D raised effects can be applied at speeds up to 2,234 12×18” sheets per hour, which doubles the speed compared to the standard JETvarnish 3D configuration. MGI’s patented inkjet technology features a fixed head configuration, producing the new speed boost in just one pass while maintaining precise registration.
Meteor DP8700 XL Digital Press 
One of the key trends for printers is finding ways to add value to print. MGI’s (Booth 3213) toner and inkjet product lines allow printers to offer capabilities that allow them to stand out from their peers and generate new profit potential. The Meteor DP8700 XL prints on a wide range of papers and synthetics plus envelopes, in sheet sizes up to 13×40″ in production with no click charge. These capabilities make new applications like oversize book covers, eight-page brochures, posters, plastic cards, specialty items, and full color envelopes possible.
MBM Aerocut G2
When MBM Corporation has introduced the Aerocut digital print finishing system, it revolutionized on demand finishing by economically consolidating slitting, cutting and creasing into a single operation. Now, MBM is pleased to announce the next generation of Aerocut—the all-new Aerocut G2.In addition to faster production speeds and increased capacity, the G2 comes with an improved color touch-screen interface, increased memory and micro cross-perfing capability. An Adobe plug-in allows designers to set up jobs and easily transfer the templates from workstation to the G2, saving even more production time. The proven air suction feed system and register mark detection sensor ensure perfect accuracy on every job, every time.
Standard Horizon HT-1000V
Standard Horizon HT-1000V The Standard Horizon HT-1000V zero make-ready and variable format Three-Knife Trimmer brings new levels of quality, performance and automation to the short-run print-on-demand book market. It compliments Horizon short-run automated perfect binders, such as the BQ-470, for completely professional book production with easy, reliable, and precise Horizon trimming. The innovative HT-1000V enables true one-to-one variable format production. Set-up for finishing is done on the fly with “zero make-ready”, without reducing production speed by reading a barcode at the entrance of the trimmer with no operator input required.
