Guillotine Paper Cutters

One of the most important pieces of equipment in a print production environment is the guillotine paper cutter. Every job that passes through a print facility will be cut by the cutter, sometimes multiple times.

There are a variety of types of guillotine paper cutters that each suit a different type of user and budget. Paper cutters can be very large but those machines are not suitable for smaller facilities.

Types of Paper Cutters

  • Flywheel Guillotine Paper Cutters use a high speed flywheel to store kinetic energy. A clutch transfers power to the blade to make each cut cycle. These cutters are very fast but cost a lot. They deliver a lot of power and dominate the high end segment.
  • Hydraulic Guillotine Paper Cutters are a perfect compromise between power and cost. Hydraulic cutters use a hydraulic power unit to drive the knife and sometimes the clamp too.
  • Electric Guillotine Paper Cutters are the least expensive type of cutter. For most light applications they work great and electric paper cutters are easy on the budget.
